Zermatt
This was the day we planned to go to Zermatt and the Matterhorn. This is a view out of Gus and Sharon's window at the chalet.
Gone is the Italian hairdo - it's a bad hair day for Gus!
Here's out ticket for the tunnel ferry. We drove your car onto a train and it took us through a long, dark tunnel and we came out in the mountains. While we were on the ferry, we just turned off the motor and enjoyed the ride! Gute fahrt!

Danny decided to eat one of his Kinder Eggs. His toy was a 1/2 gig thumb drive!
This is how Danny and Dalena enjoyed the ride!
These pictures are so typical of the Swiss countryside! Lakes, cows, mountainside villages and hillside orchards and vineyards! I love it all! Another thing I will always remember about Switzerland is its tunnels!!!

Once we got to Zermatt, we stopped and ate and shopped. We didn't take this carriage ride, but I thought the carriages were cool and I liked the idea of the poop catchers under the horses' tails.
Little sparrows, hungry for crumbs, were eating right out of my hand!

I liked this little church at the top of the mountains. Dalena went inside, paid a quarter and lit a candle.

Jack really liked the slate shingles on all the houses in St. Nicklaus.
We ate dinner in St. Nicklaus. The napkins were folded like crowns, so of course...
When the waitress took our order, we said, "No drinks." We didn't want to get stuck for $4 water again in Switzerland! As she walked away, she rolled her eyes. "No drinks? Not even water?" Nope! She took our food orders and was gone. A few minutes later, she came back. "No water? It's free!" We all cheered! She went and got pitchers of tap water with ice and brought them, along with glasses, to our tables! She was our hero! Then she came back with some raspberry syrup, which she stirred into our glasses of water and into the water that was left in the pitchers. That was (shhhh) complimentary - because she liked us. Oh how we loved her!
Dalena made her a little piece of balancing artwork - with toothpicks and forks. :o)
Just before we left, we asked her if we could get a picture of her. She thought we meant for her to take a picture of us. No! We wanted to remember her! She thought that was hilarious! She was so cute!!!
